What file types are supported?

Stockfill fully supports JPEG, PNG, and TIFF today, plus BMP, GIF, and WEBP. RAW files can be browsed in your library, but automated metadata generation isn't available for them yet — RAW support is on the roadmap.

Why a desktop app instead of a web app?

Accepted Answer

The web app proved the idea, but it had a real ceiling: everything lived in the cloud, which meant you had to upload your images and rely on an internet connection. For a tool that handles thousands of files, that just wasn't good enough. So we rebuilt Stockfill as a desktop app — your files and metadata stay on your own machine, it works fully offline, and it stays fast no matter how many assets you have. Same mission, but built the right way this time.

Can I reuse keyword presets?

Not yet — right now you edit keywords per asset or in bulk across a selection. Reusable keyword sets (save, apply, and merge) are on the roadmap and will arrive in a future beta build.

How does export work?

Today metadata is saved to Stockfill's local database on your machine. Industry-standard export files (CSV, XMP) that you can upload alongside your images are on the roadmap — join the waitlist to hear when export lands.

How does AI metadata generation work?

Accepted Answer

The optional AI generator analyzes your image with a cloud AI vision model and suggests a title, description, and keywords. You review and adjust them before saving. It needs an internet connection; everything else in Stockfill works offline.

Does it work offline?

Stockfill is a desktop app. Browsing files, generating thumbnails, editing metadata, and your local database all run on your machine and work offline. Only the optional AI metadata generator calls a cloud service and needs an internet connection.
